People who have lymphedema in legs. Have you lost weight off the bottom half of body?
Hi, that is because it is not fat in your legs; it is lymphatic fluid. the weight loss should help your lymphoedema long term because there is less weight to bare - if you see what i mean...!! Are you exercising too; it is important but equally so to wear compression when exercising. NNE
I don't know the science or medical reason behind hit, but lymphoedema and I think especially if you have had cellulitis causes fatty tissue to congregate within the affected limb. My consultant has said that it is becoming common that when many surgeons (worldwide) perform lymph node transplants they will perform lyposuction as well to help reduce the size. There is a renowned consultant in Scotland (can't remember his name) who specialises in this treatment for lymphoedema sufferers.
I've not heard of this transplant. My right leg was worse but since having cellulitis in left leg that is now more painful. Will mention this to my nurse when I see her next
Hi, understand how frustating it is but with the problem being lymph fluid dieting will no get rid of the swelling but will help ease the symptons..... if you get me. I find swimming the best form of exercise for Lymphedema.
I, too, have lymphedema in my right leg. I had to lose weight all over and joined WeightWatchers. I lost 40 pounds and my right leg also lost weight. It's still bigger than my left, but it also lost the body/fat weight. I hope that helps. And, yes, my hips, rear and stomach lost the weight, as well.
I use compression stockings and raise my legs over night this has lead to my legs going down a great deal. I have also had my thyroxine increased and in a month lost one and quarter stones. Can't believe difference wearing the rumblings has made. X
