Hi Daborn, Not sure on the Medical Answer, but just to share, i also have had my Gallbladder removed due to stones. Maybe Big leg can do a survey on how many of us has all suffered from stones or Gallbladder linked condidtions to see if there is any chance it can be a contributing factor.

I was out to lunch with the Lipo Ladies on Saturday and others have also had problems with Stones in Gall Bladder and Kidney, so maybe their is a link after all?

ninewells, thank you for your reply. I am on the list to have gall bladder removed due to gall stones at the same time developed oedema in my legs. Just thought there might be a connection as my urine is very colourful! The outlook for curing lymphodema doesnt look good. daborn.

I had my gall bladder removed. Year later had a mastectomy, two cancerous tumours, then year after that finally managed to get treatment for lymphodemia and also had a kidney stone. Possible connection?

As do all of us have sinus and tonsil problems, just to add, but this is also conected to the Lymph system i have been informed.

Yes I just learned that tonsils are a part of the lymphatic system.. hmmm I had mine out at aged 6 when it was fashionable to remove them... I have not had any problems with my gall bladder ...so cannot answer that question ...

No probs with stones or gall bladder (at time of writing!) did have tonsils and adenoids out aged 6 or 7 as Rolin77, when it was the "done thing".

I was out with a group of Ladies on saturday and learned so much about how the lymphatic syatem works and what other conditions we all share. Girls in general seem to produce more Lymph at puberty and if they have any ginolocigol problems later in life. The menapause seems to increase it also.

This is also where i found out about Tonsils, Bowel, Gall bladder all being related in some way as most of us suffer from some form of condition on that list. Also most who have Lipoedema aslo have Hipermobility and Fibromyalgia, but suffer worse with fatigue. It also states we should avoid as much anasthetic as possible as this is also being reported as a trigger.

Just shows us there is more to this condition than we think when we start to link it to all our other conditions.

I wish someone would do a tree of my medical problems and see how they can all be linked. One Doctor was going to do this for me as he couldn't believe a lady of my age should have so many things wrong with her and should have had so much removed from her. But he changed hospital soon after this.

Not having surgery for your Gallbladder may not be an option, my own gallbladder ruptured 3 days after i had surgery to have a Histerectomy, so it was already at its last stage, as i had put the op of 5 times. Not something we should play around with, it could have killed me if it wasn't removed when it ruptured. Yes we need it but we can live without it as i have for nearly 25 years.

Hi everyone, my nine year old daughter has Primary Lymphoedema in her left foot, left leg and now left hand. She also has Hypermobility and Low Muscle Tone throughout her body, and she has a sub-mucous cleft palate (the opening at the top of her mouth linking to nose doesn't close properly, making her speech sound more nasal) and a split uvula (the dangly bit at the back of her throat in separated into two). She has had no formal diagnosis of her overall condition, despite extensive testing, just a list of different issues. It would be very interesting to see how many of these conditions are shared by others with Primary Lymphoedema.

I also have Hipermobility, and muscle problems with my Fibromyalgia, i really do think there is a major link to all of this, but proving it would be another hurdle for someone.

Apologies for the earlier post of miss spelling and jumbled words, hands not working as fast as head today sorry guys xx

I to got secondary Lymphoedema after a cholestectomy (removal of gallbladder) as a gall stone moved and blocked my pancreatic duct, almost killing me as internal organs closed down. 2009

I was nil by mouth for 14 days, on IV drips, and put on 4 stone of water in my legs and stomach,

I also have full body lipoedema, and metabolic X, arthritis of both knees, hip, neck.

Wow lots of different medical problems, is there a chance the other issues lead to lymphedema? Do you all see prof Mortimer and tell him your other illnesses? He is doing the research maybe he could suggest if there is a link.....

I agree on the nutritional aspects Unfortunatley I like chocolate too much. But a huge part of staying healthy is movement. We live in an age of cars and tvs - not good for lymph at all!

This is very spooky! I had my gallbladder out just over two weeks ago due to a rather large stone in it (about the size of a large walnut I believe). I had only been having problems with it for 7 months in total and the last 3 were almost unbearable - I'd have rather had appendicitis again than have to go through that again. Yes, the gall bladder is quite essential but our bodies *can* live without it as other organs still produce bile albeit not in the quantities stored in the gall bladder, bile is still constantly dripped into the intestines I believe???

Before I was officially diagnosed with primary lymphoedema, I used to suffer a lot with my tonsils but since wearing my Norah Batty stockings (touch wood) they've not played up since. My tonsilitis attacks ended up getting so frequent, my GP was thinking of referring me to get them removed which I wasn't looking forward to.

The only sinus problems I have is hayfever. When I lived in a city and moved to the country side in my childhood, I never had any problems. I moved to a small town and bam - hayfever started not long after. This was about 4 years before developing what I now now to be lymphoedema.

I do have osteoarthritis in my feet and left knee but that is mainly due to having problems with my feet when growing and my then GP didn't realise/want to know. I ended up with plantar fasciitis, fallen arches, inverted ankles and limited movement of my ankles. The arthritis is in the metatarsal bones of my feet (the bones that footballers tend to damage/break) as treatment on my feet only started about 12 years ago. It's developed in my knee due to having 3 arthroscopies to find out why I was having knee problems - it was later connected to the problems with my feet. Due to the feet and knee problems and latterly my lymphoedema, my hips are starting to play up as I tend to walk wonky nowadays.

I had to laugh the week before I went off sick from work to have my op, my employer was asking people to sign up for a free body MOT/health check. My manager asked if I fancied signing up. We both laughed (she knows all about my medical problems) when I told her I better not, they may frog march me over to the vets to be put down!

The main thing since having the gall stone diagnosis, I am tending to cook more things from scratch. I have always enjoyed cooking but with my arthritis and lymphoedema, holding down a full time job and having to commute by train to another town to work, I've been having less time and energy to cook properly and started relying more on jars and other processed food which I suppose didn't help my growing gallstone. In the last 12 weeks I have lost a stone in weight (by removing a lot of processed stuff from my diet and cutting down my portions) which I am hoping to keep off and hopefully lose more once I go back to work as I will be doing quite a bit of walking about when I am back there next week. Only another 4 stone to go and I'll be happy, but how much of the weight is due to my swollen legs??

Also this year, although I have only a small garden, I have planted green beans, tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, radishes and strawberries in tubs and growbags in my garden and I may grow a few tates in old growbags for the summer too. I've told hubby we need to move so I can have a bigger garden to grow more! I've got the gardening bug now and the extra exercise does me a bit of good as long as I remember to take my painkillers before I potter about! There's nothing like eating homegrown veg :-)

Big leg - the gall bladder only stores bile! It does not produce, that is the livers job! I have had gall bladder remover, have lympheodema in both legs and have still got tonsils!

I have just had my lymphogram results and it confirmed I have leg lymphodema. I had my gall bladder removed last year and a hysterectomy 4 years ago !

Interestingly I also, found out I have three kidneys last year.

I have always had throat infections and have also had sinus surgery.

Interesting to hear about the problems with Lymph system. I had recurrent swollen glands every month in my throat for 4 years in early teens, and every month was tested for Glandular Fever but it proved negative! I always had Sinus problems too, but the dripping nose I thought was Rhinitis (like my mother) stopped when I was taught SLD, following MLD. Always had acid problems too, but I tried to cut out eating too much fat, which helped. I still have my Tonsils and Gallbladder.

Absolutely, gallbladder disease can cause edema in legs and trunk. I had gallstones off and on for about two years--improperly diagnosed as an ulcer. Finally, the disease resulted in a huge weight gain, shortness of breath, lack of energy and jaundice. I had the stones removed from my bile duct, and was prescribed a diuretic. Next, my gallbladder was removed and edema was resolved. I went from 205 pounds to my normal weight of 175. The surgeon said my gallbladder was diseased and was full of stones and sludge.
