Temporary Asthma

I caught cold 20 days back. Fever, Flu and brutal cough and then started feeling shortness of breath with strange pinched pressure on my left lung and when I inhaled I could hear crackles. I visited chest physician he said its hyperactivity of airways and gave me symbicort for 2 weeks with montelukast. I went for second opinion to my family physician, he said its post covid asthma and its temporary and gave me two inhalers fostair and salbo for 6 days and said its temporary. Is there something called temporary asthma? I am not sure what they have diagnosed. any experiences? I'm also an anxiety patient and cannot distinguish between the two if its asthma or anxiety. 😔

Symbicort is a long term use inhaler, as one of its ingredients is a steroid so it builds up in effectiveness over several weeks. It's brilliant for managing cases of actual asthma but may not be for you depending on your ultimate diagnosis.

I have never heard of the concept of temporary asthma. You mention symbicort and fostair, both of which are long term inhalers, which take time to bed in.

I assume they are saying you have temporary lung inflammation.

You could try the asthma and lung UK helpline on 0300 2225800. The nurses there are very helpful.
