I was wondering if anyone has worn a mask on the plane and if it was ok in terms of breathing. Sometimes it’s hard for me to breathe with a mask on while walking up the stairs so I’m wondering if it would be hard on a plane. Thank you.

Wearing a mask on the plane
Hi, B,
Hope you and the family are well.
I haven't ridden on a plane this go-round, but I always wear a mask on the plane and haven't had any problems.
But I wonder if you are wearing the right kind of mask for you if you are having that much trouble wearing it? Can you describe it? How tightly does it fit, is it regular woven fabric, or a surgical mask?
I only wear surgical masks, like when I'm doing laundry or am with a close friend who is fully vaccinated and has been carefully distancing. If I'm going to be in a more crowded location with a fabric mask over it to hold it more tightly to my face (otherwise they slip around and hit my eyes).
This is another situation that you really should discuss with your allergist or pulmonologist -- they can advise you on the best type of mask and SIZE for you. (You might need a small adult or child size if your bone structure is delicate.)
If you can't see him/her before the flight, the only other thing I can suggest is to take a number of extra ones and switch to new ones as the old start feeling damp. That will make the mask a lot more comfortable. And remember, you won't be exercising or anything.
Take care, B, and have a good time!
Debbie
I have severe asthma and recently did a marathon trip to the states with five flights in three weeks which totaled about 20 hours of flying time and I was fine in my mask. That's just my personal anecdote but I got used to it and barely noticed after a while. Good luck!
