Bronchial Thermoplasty : My daughter also... - Living with Asthma
Bronchial Thermoplasty
I have severe asthma as well. I had all three bronchial Thermoplasty treatments done. I saw very little improvements. I had very high hopes for this procedure as I know it’s helped a lot of people and my Dr. had seen a lot of success with other patients but it just didn’t help me. I’m glad I did it though because with such promising outcomes I have to know I at least tried.
I had it too. Unfortunately it failed.
Wow. On the brochures and everything all I hear about is success stories. I wonder if the people who are doing much better aren’t really on these channels anymore because they aren’t still looking for what will help them.
But I’d love to hear more about your experience with your asthma. Things you’ve tried. What makes things better/worse for you. What you’re doing now to manage.
They have me on maximum therapy. I was on steroids for two years straight. It did so much damage to my body I told them I wanted off. But I'm still on once a month at least. My pulmonologist is very good. I used to work with the whole group when I worked micu....so new research is indicating three times a week Zithromax. Right now he is trying to get me on a new med which name escapes me..but it's for steroid dependent and you have to have eosinophils greater than 150. Oddly enough mine are low. So...now they're thinking it might be autoimmune. Btw they aren't going to say about the failed case. They were very disappointed. I asked if it was because of my ethnicity like we know s ok much is affected by race but he said no. There was a great article here on a lady whose life changed. Good for her. I also stumbled across the Asthma Institute that does research which hopefully I qualify. My doc is all for it. So fingers crossed!!!
I'm a severe asthmatic. I've had asthma for 48 years now and now I also have COPD. I'm steroid dependent and have been taking azithromycin 3 times a week for at least 6 years if not more. I get IV Gammagard every 3 weeks. I was getting Xolair injections every month for 7 years which did absolutely nothing. Now my new pulmonologist (been seeing him about a year now) switched me to Nucala. Been getting it for 3 months and that's done nothing. Can't get an accurate eosinophil count when you're steroid dependent. He's thinking of changing me to another med called Cinqair, it's an Infusion. Been told there's really nothing else to do for me because I'm maxed out. So very frustrating.
