So, the NP prescribed oral steroids to take every day. That was a month ago, and I'm 8 lbs heavier. The last time I took steroids via inhaler, I gained 15. I can't afford to gain weight.

Thanks for your post! Side effects from oral steroids are not always easy to deal with...but they can sure help when we need them. My prednisone bursts are usually when I am sick and last 5 days.

I have the same issues but don’t know how to address it. Often times it seems to be steroids or not breathing. I chose the steroids but wish there was an alternative! Steroids are old drugs. I wonder if any research is being done on a drug with less side effects and complications. I have developed type 2 diabetes due to steroid use. Frustrating!

I want to eat every thing in the house when on steroids. Ask doctor about a " short burst." You have to decrease your calorie intake. It's tough..

Much easier said than done! Plus, increased hunger is not the only cause of weight gain. Fluid retention is a major issue as well! May the Force be with all of us using steroids! ☝️

Yes! Fluid retention. That 8 lbs was also edema. What's the use of breathing when you still can't walk because your feet and legs are inflamed and it hurts to move and if your extremeties are inflamed, what's happening inside your body! WTH!

I take both. Singulair tablet. Not sure of dosage. I'm going to discuss with my Dr. next week.

Hi There, I have fallen with a really bad asthma attack about a month ago, went t the hospital stayed there for a week and I’m still in steroids prednisone 70 mg a day . Eat everything my way and I don’t feel is controlling my breathing is frustrating at times my chest always tight, my face looks 2 bigger full of pimples I can only asume is due to the prednisone in my body. Hi e much you take? Do you take anything else?
