How can I help my sister??

My sister has just been diagnosed with depression. Apparently its chemical so the medication will replace those brain chemicals she is missing...But, does that mean there is nothing I can do to help?

Any suggestion? I don't want to be 'pushy', if you know what I mean...

hi fernanda,

A few tips that I've learned in dealing with depressive episodes I have are:

1) Nurture relationships with supportive people

2) Eat a healthy diet

3) Exercise

4) Challenge the status quo

It's always good to be a listening ear to those dealing with depression.

Hope this helps

hi Fernanda,

i agree with anxious-allie, being supportive to your sister will be a great help to her. Understanding and patience is important.
