I have come up with a new way of viewing anxiety that makes total sense to me. I don't know why I have not come across this yet after everything I've read about anxiety and the myriad of physical symptoms it causes. I mean, it's there, hiding in the explanations I've read but it's never been described this way.
Are you ready?
Here it is:
Anxiety is the exact opposite of the placebo effect.
Does that make sense to anyone else? 🤔

Hello Miniwheats
Not sure if it makes sense to me or not but what I am sure about is if it makes sense to you and helps you that is all that matters
Well, if a sugar pill can cure your disease simply because you believe it is the cure, then surely your belief that you are unwell can cause disease. Belief in being unwell is health anxiety, is it not? So it's like the opposite of the placebo effect. Your mind is making you well in the case of the placebo effect, but it's doing the opposite in the case of anxiety.
Indeed. I just wish someone would have worded it this was to me cause I totally believe in the placebo effect but didn't believe in the anxiety effect when it all started. I never thought to put the two together. Would have saved me alot of repeat medical visits🙄 How are doing lately Lulu? Hope all is good. I had a minor setback with the night shakes but am now completely ignoring them and they are gradually subsiding again 😁
Ooooo sorry about your stomach ache. Not nice 😔. I'm not hosting Christmas this year so just gonna relax and eat cabbage rolls and dumplings with my family 😀 But that won't be until Jan 7 (Orthodox Christmas). Merry Christmas Lulu and don't let the stress get you down!!
