At times, I say being diagnosed was the best thing that happened to me, just as I nearly died once from HIV, then from severe car accident. I continue learning every day, while my biggest challenge is lifelong isolation dating from earliest childhood and adoption, unhappy beginnings.

I've been living with HIV since 1992. I found out when I was pregnant with my daughter. Today, I have two kids both of whom are HIV negative. I will say that I've learned who I can and can't trust and who will be there when I need them. I agree, sometimes the loneliness gets to me but I try to keep myself busy. I would say, try not to isolate too much. You're still young enough to get out and meet new people.
