Permanent Cold Like Symptoms .

I was diagnosed with CLL 4 years ago . I am now 2 years post Chemotherapy . I have a secondary Lymphoma ,which my Consultant is not duly concerned about at this stage .

My fear is infections and I sometimes feel that I seem to suffer from a reoccurring cold .

Symptoms are mucus and a bit heady at times . Any tips on dealing with this ? I have taken Paracetamol up-to now .

I am grateful to you all.

Hi, I am 7 years since diagnosis and 5 years post chemo and I too seem to get a lot of colds which can’t seem to shake. I know my neutrophils are still quite low and wonder if my immune system will ever be the same again. I also just take paracetamol. I wish you well and hope you find the answer.

Thanks for your reply , at least I am not on my own . Now that you mention it , my neutrophils are also low . I suppose its mostly to do with this and just hope we steer clear of infections.

Hi, I have no handy hints, but I have to remember I have a compromised immune system. Personally I find wrapping up warm and going for a walk (as long or short, fast or slow) means I get a bit of exercise and fresh air and feel a bit better emotionally and physically, even if my symptoms persist. Take care, be kind to yourself and have the odd treat.

Hi

I believe a great way to keep colds at bay is to take daily vitamin D. I rarely get colds now and when I do they tend to be minor. Also make sure you get your flu jab. Stress is not good for the immune system and general health, so try to take care of your physical, mental and spiritual needs. Otherwise, it's the usual over the counter decongestants, nasal sprays, etc. Hope you feel better soon.

I am back on Vitamin D ,thanks to you . I am getting my Flu jab today and on reflection I am at my worst when under stress . I am going to start meditation as recommended by a Clinical Physiologist . Keep well and I am indebted to you .

Is it a cold or is it more excess mucus kind of allergy like. That’s what I get and I use an isotonic nose spray, a steroid nose spray and high dose antihistamines (which also help my itching) and just about keep on top of it. Of course if I allowed the mucus to build up I’m sure I’d be more likely to get infections. If I don’t do my meds then I get post nasal drip too which then makes my throat sore.
