Sadly, Christmas isn't fun for everyone

What will you be eating this Christmas?

Tom's been eating 900 calories a day since his bariatric surgeon gave him an intragastric balloon.

Arthur can barely remember a day when he wasn't on some sort of diet.

And Lizzie is still the same weight she always was, despite obsessively weighing herself every three hours and never buying anything with fat in it.

For those who've lost their way in life; for people who have no idea how to eat properly after years of listening to bad advice: for them there is only one hope this Christmas. Low-carb high-fat.

If you have friends and loved ones who attend WeightWatchers meetings, eat lots of healthy complex carbs, and count their calories, give them your support to get off the diet treadmill for good. While you tuck into your Christmas roast without guilt, think of those who can't touch it because it'll break their calorie allowance.

The LCHF group is here to help!

(With apologies to the Salvation Army, who IMO are doing sterling work)

Not sure what to say here... for people with nothing any food is good food .. I count myself as amazingly fortunate that I've never been in that situation - but lets be honest here, if bread comes with some soup (for example) you're gonna be grateful for it x

Yeah, I was originally doing a riff "on the theme of..." simply to poke fun at dieticians and the misery they cause, but you're quite right, perhaps homelessness is rather too serious a topic to treat flippantly.

Wonder if the Sally Army hands out low-fat spread to those unfortunate folk along with their bread and soup? I think I'll fire off a letter to Arla and see if they see a bit of a PR opportunity here.

I volunteer at my local Sally army. It is a little fond of the eat well plate style of meal. And Elmlea instead of real cream. I am gently and quietly trying to promote adding in more fats.

To be honest though, carbs do keep you warm, so I do understand where they are coming from.

That's a very special thing you're doing there. Kudos to you. I've never been homeless, but I grew up dirt-poor and I know what it feels like to be hungry (I mean hungry as a permanent state of being, not just impatient for the next mealtime). It's not pleasant. So yeah, nothing wrong with carbs if you're living on the streets! What I wouldn't like to see, though, is the homeless being lectured on the terribleness of fats. And it would be nice if they got some proper butter on their bread.
