Does anyone else notice their teeth ache more when eating hot food since going on keto diet?!
I don't know what's causing it, other than changing what i eat since going on keto a month ago. Before that, my teeth weren't as sensitive to hot food.
I read that being on keto, that it actually improves your teeth, and cavities from eating less sugar.

Hi! I hope your teeth settle down. That sounds really uncomfortable! I've not experienced any LCHF related teeth issues, but teeth can do some very strange things sometimes Mine feel loose or wobbly when I go on very long distance flights!
Sorry- thought I had answered you! — yes, just wobbly towards the end of 12-14 hour flights. Fine afterwards! No relationship to LCHF as I just started in April.
Since starting LCHF I found that random long term health niggles just went away over the first couple of months. I was amazed!
I hope your teeth settle down soon. Best to check with your dentist probably if it continues.
Hi Cosmo. Yes our bodies are amazing machines and organisms. Funny and can surprise us. Thanks, i hope they settle down too, this week not quite a sore.. Seeing dentist in Dec anyway and will mention it to her then.
Hi, Becky My husbandis 100% keto and had some dental to begin with although he had not attened to his teeth as well as he should off and personally myself. I am am a high keto eater meaning high carb's I need them for my weight-I'm very lean. They help with my seizures and Type1 blood sugars. After an adjustment to the diet it is amazing what it does, my husbands colon began healing and his teeth and gums improved so much. The diet gives you better foods if follewed good grass fed beef free range and chicken the same manner. Pacific Seafood no processed seafood only fresh, Salmon, Cod, Lobster ,Crab, oysters, clams some from the Northeast. Organic vegtables, kale, spinach, cucumbers, just to name a few. Nuts they make a snack and are ground for flour to bake-bread. A keto diet is exciting and flavorful once you start cooking. You can adapt many recipes to start I would buy a book on Amazon. Visit with your dentist or doctor the doctor might want to to run blood work to see if you certain vitaims. We do add vitiams to our diet for me more Mg because of my illnesses. Always a good dose of a multi vitiam from the start! I hope this helps there are some other keto dieters on site you should be hearing.
Hi cherv. Thanks for your reply. Interesting reply. My diet was vegan for 20 years before going LCHF diet last month. I only had a few days of feeling ill, (keto flu i read about while your body adjusts to the change.)
And it was a change, as i loved bread, potatoes, pasta, rice, and most fruit and veg. But i have seemed to have adjusted to the big change (for me anyway) relatively easily without too much hardship.. Yes my cooking skills have increased greatly, I've learned alot more about food, and make more delicious food. And i experiment alot more with food than i used to.
My reason going Keto is mainly as i need to loose more weight, as my belly was still to big, and reading it is dangerous to have it big.. Peri-menopause was the main reason for the increase in weight and made me borderline diabetic with nearly being obese. I've lost a stone and a half so far, since last Oct. Only 9 lbs to go and i would have reached the tail end of my BMI healthy weight range.
Since going LCHF i have added extra vitamins to my diet, before i was taking, iron and vit D3 supplements daily.
Now i've added B12, and yes a Multivitamin.
But the sore teeth, is not nice, when eating hot food, since reducing carbs and other foods.
I wanted to see if other people on here, went through a similar thing.
Never heard of this. It would be worth checking with your dentist without mentioning your diet and see if he has any ideas. It might simply be coincidence, or it might be some bizarre consequence of the adjustment process that will go away after a while; if you've only been doing it a month, it'll take a while longer for things to settle down completely.
Hi AwfulToad. Like i said though teeth okay before LCHF, but am seeing dentist anyway in Dec.. Will see how it goes.. Drinking hot tea isn't as bad, but it's not the same as chewing hot food.
Are you still vegan? I would imagine it's very difficult indeed to do vegan LCHF and still get adequate nutrition. Supplements don't necessarily make up for missing nutrients in your food. But let's see what the dentist suggests.
I'm a big fan of toads. I have a lot on my farm. They're the bestest animal ever. The S.O. thinks they're awful, though. Therefore ...
Yeah i'm still vegan. Been vegan 18 years. it's not hard. Especially these days since it's popular and more products and ingredients are in supermarkets.
I get my bloods tested every year to make sure my not lacking. I was lacking in Iron, so took iron tablets. Every thing else was normal levels.
That's nice you like toads. I picked up a resident large frog this week covered it in a towel. I heard a shrill noise, a cat was trying to attack it, i thought it was a bird noise, it was a common frog. I have a couple of frogs in the wildlife pond in back garden. I put the frog back in the water.
S.O?! So you're being ironic..
What do you love about toads?! You must have frogs too?
It's inside certain teeth where the pain is, not sore gums.
I wonder if it's to do with Calcium? And if i'm now having less calcium in my diet? But taking vegan multi vitamin now.
I use LoseIt food calculator, but it doesnt count vitamins like calcium, so i don't know now much my intake is.,. My day is already filled with adding all the food i eat so i can monitor my nutrition stats..
