My platelet count has always been around 27 to 35. I got pneumonia and my platelet count was 99 and 156. It is amazing? I wonder if it will go down again. Has this happened to anybody?

I got shingles and my platelets that normally sat at 50ish suddenly went up to 112. They did go back down when I got better. It’s nice though isn’t it to have them go up for a bit.

My platelets are always about 42 but when I’m ill they go up I can only assume that as my body starts fighting the illness it leaves my platelets alone. I noticed that when I went away to hot countries which I do several times a year that my platelets went up then when I came back to the UK within a couple of weeks I was back to around 42. 2 months ago I started taking 2000 iu of Vitamin D daily, since then my platelets have ranged from 62 - 82. I’m not saying it’s definitely this that has made them go up but they have never consistently been this high

Hi vitamin D also helped me. I have had ITP for over 20years with an average count a 30 when I turned 50 my primary care physician ran my basic bleed work but added vitamin D and I was low .I also started talking vitamin D. 5 years now my count is 90 to 110 . That's good enough for me. I take no other meds. Everyone should ask there Dr to check vitamin D levels regardless of age or gender
