So, I have been diagnosed with ITP last November 2016. My last steroid medication was January 2017 and until now I've never taken any medications. Just living the life to the fullest and of course prayers.
Until.. I have given a chance to work (that requires lab works for you to acquire youre physically fit to work). The result came and it was so low, 8! So I went to my doctor and again prescribing me steroids for 5 days. And I'm such a hard headed woman that I opt for the natural way. As once Hippocrates said: let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food. Soooooo.... I tried juicing celery and beetroot for 5 days (instead of taking steroids) in an empty stomach every morning. I had my cbc yesterday and my platelet shoot up to 32! I'm still juicing celery-beetroot every morning and will let you guys know soon for the results.
Just be positive always.

Unfortunately there is no evidence that Celery, Beetroot or Prayers will increase your platelet count. Platelet counts will jump up and down on their own and we have all experienced that.
Stay active, keep to a balanced diet and follow your doctors advise.
Congratulations! That is great news! Prayer works and God is good!
We went the natural route as well for my husband. He is almost done tapering down the steroids but even on the highest dose he only got up to 140.
I juiced papaya leaves (terrible smelling thick nasty juice and he had 1.5 tablespoons, 2 times per day. Counts the following week were 165 and this week was 186.
I read about a study they did w/ papaya leaf juice and mice that it affected the two genes that control the production of platelets. One gene measured 15x the activity than the mice in the control group and the other gene measured 13.4x the activity. The effects also lasted 21 days, so we are expecting another jump next week!
Please keep us informed. I'm looking into holistic meds and herbs for help too. I want all natural treatments if possible. I bought an encyclopedia of herbal meds to try for ITP. Just have to have my doc ok and help me select the ones I need.
