My son (2) had a relapse of hos itp and has started nose bleeding. Our choices were IVIG or dex steroids. We went with dex as he has croup.
Did it work for anyone and how long were your platelets up for?

God Bless him!!! So sweet!! I will say a prayer for him!! Take Care!
Dear Shoni and your lovely baby. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Dexamethasone worked quickly for me. I just had a pulse of it (high dose for a week). I went from next to nothing to 140,000. Sadly it didn't hold forever but it did get me to a safe zone for a couple of weeks before it stated to fall again. I had more success on a steady dose of prednisone.
Your baby is more beautiful than the hospitalization! Be patient it may take awhile; I believe I shared the story of my niece who developed an autoimmune disease (hemolytic anemia) at 6 months after a viral infection. She endured 2 years of steroids before a complete recovery, she is now a healthy beautiful 30 year old woman living her life. Hang in thing WILL get better Georgia
Thank you, that gives me hope! He has been ITP since january. He recovered for 3 months and then relapsed. The steroids didnt hold, they raised his platelets but as soon as we stopped steroids then came back down. We are trying the IVIG this wednesday 😐.
