This year my ITP is biting back . Last year had a stable year for me. I am signed off work for the second time this year, bleeding gums are back, joint pain and bleeding in my joints , just been diagnosed with arthritis and the two conditions are coursing the bleeding joints and fatigue . Last week when I went to hospital a lovely lady in a wheel chair ran into the back of my legs, the area bleed so badly that it covered all my ankle and the full length of my calf. I am on N plate and my Heamalogy team want to put me on immune serpressers. Has anyone else had this treatment ?

Having a rough ride again!
I don't have arthritis, but I have lupus and ITP. I am on CellCept, immunosuppressant. It has really worked for me, very little side effects.
Hi there, just asking how has it worked for you, what are the benefits.Regards
CellCept for me was mainly to suppress the lupus activity and protect my kidneys, b/c it is very common for lupus patients to develop lupus nephritis. CellCept is the least toxic of the immunosuppressive agents. Other than feeling nauseous about an hour after I take it, I have really had no side effects at all. I have been on it probably about 10-12 years, have had lupus for 20 years.
The first immunosuppressant given to me way back was Imuran. I had such a horrible allergic reaction to it that I almost didn't make it. So that was out of the question. There are a wide range of agents, even prednisone (methylprednisolone). I take 4 mg daily, that also will raise your platelet count dramatically for some people when taken in high doses.
Overall, the benefits of CellCept for me are little to no side effects and not a very toxic drug. Hope this helps you, feel free to ask again! Take Care
Thanks! Yes I have taken prednisolone, over the years to take up my platelets. It has less side effects, than other tablets I have tried. Just didn,t know if the immunosuppressant, had any effect on the platelets .By your reply it seems it more for lupus. Regards
