I am so pleased to read that you are keeping well.
It has been exactly one year since I was admitted to hospital with severe briusing, mouth ulcers, rash and a platelet count of 1 - which went down to zero - and ITP was diagnosed. Initially I had massive doses of steriods, but after being weaned slowly off these my platelet count has kept steady and I have been well. Unvelievably - after a count last Tuesday - my platelets rocked in at 240! Unvelievable..
ITP is such a strange and unpredicable condition, the way it came out of nowhere was very frightening. I am living my life and don't think about it most of the time. But I do find that I am vigilant (probably obsessive) in watching out for bleeding gums and I inspect closely any rashes and bruises. .
Keep well everyone

Wonderful news and your platelet range is amazing! We would be ever so grateful for 40-60. Seems like forever ago when my dads numbers were in the 20's even. Rituximab didn't work for us, unfortunately... and Promacta/Eltromopag gave a small initial boost but enlarged his actual platelets so we had to stop that. Next treatment will be Nplate, if needed, for his is ~10 now.
Hi how many days/ months usually Rituximan kicks in? My son finished his 4 rounds of infusion but last June 7 but as of this moment his platelet didnt rise up...hematologist gave him pred. as a back up meds but they think that if by August platelet wont get up high atleast 30 to 40k they will consider splenectomy..
