Ito diagnosed the end of July 2016 with a count of 5!!

I went on 65mg of steroids and my count went up to 30 after a month the steroids were dropped to 40mg and the platelets dropped to 18 so the steroids went back up to 50mg and currently after 8 weeks on them I'm now at a count of 25!! I'm putting on weight and can't see light at the end yet!!

I was on 80mg of pred when I first got ITP. It didn't help me so I was weaned off and will not have to take it again. Yay! I take Promacta and it is working well for me.

It is early days yet but steroids should only be taken for a short time. If there is no perminent improvement after 3-4 months, it is time to consider an alternative of which there are plenty.
