Dear all this is my first post, I am recently diagnosed that I am an ITP-Patient. My question is that Grapefruit juice is good for ITP patients are not? I am taking Beet root juice and sugar cane juice with steroids and it seems they are working to raise my platelets.

Is Grapefruit Juice good for ITP-Patients
Very interesting! I eat half a grapefruit every morning and I have been in remission for about 8 years. And Beet juice, I think I have a food allergy to Beet juice. Everyone is different. If it works for you then great.
You are taking steroids also? They are probably bringing up your count. Prednisone is used as a frontline drug to bring up counts. Kind of hard to say if the juices are helping or not, since you are on steroids also.
First of all thanks to reply second as I recently diagnosed as an ITP patient (2times transfusion of platelets in 72 hours) after that on steroids (Deltacortil because prednisone is not available in market) since last 12 days. In addition I am taking beet root juice+sugar cane juice almost on daily basis. It looks like steroids+juices works because my last cbc shows greater change in my platelet count. Need lot of good wishes and prayers.
Avoid grapefruit in any form if you are taking verapamil and possibly warfarin. The information should be provided on leaflets enclosed with meds.
I wish you well.
Thank you for your reply and wish, I am not taking grapefruit in any form since I was confused about it. Currently taking steroids and beet root juice with carrots. Tomorrow I need to visit my hematologist and will update here about my health. Need lot of good wishes and prayers.
Grapefruit is know to interact with several medications like warfarin. So I don't think grapefruit effects ITP directly but care should be taken that it does not interact with prescribed medications. So carefully read the information which comes with your medication and search the internet for possible interaction of the medications prescribed. (Good to get this sort of info regardless)
