Hair Loss - My daughter is on 1grm mycophenolate and 75mg Eltrombopag daily, been on this for about 18 months now.

She has recently noticed that her hair has started to fall out, it wasn't much at first but now when she washes her hair it is quite a noticeable amount that is coming out. Has anyone else been on this medication and noticed this as a side effect. I know she lost a lot of hair when when first got diagnosed with ITP due to other medications (steroids etc) but it did grow back again and indeed was nice and thick. I am now a bit worried that it will get really thin again. Thanks

Hi Lindylou86 I notice your post on your daughter’s hair loss was put up six years ago. May I ask whether this persisted? Got worse/better? I have been on 75 mg eltrombopag for about 3-4 months and I am very alarmed by hair loss. As you described, it wasn’t much at the beginning but every time I brush it, or worse when I wet/wash it so much comes out. I have no bald patches but when I hold my hair in a pony tail there is half the volume than before. Can anyone recommend a good shampoo to strengthen what hair I have left and encourage new growth? Hi her hair has remained quite thin Even though she now no longer in this medication she has had her meds changed , She never went bald or had bald patches , just thinner hair. Lots of good shampoos out there just need to researcher what you think is the best fir you . Take care
