bone marrow testing for ITP.

if one has got bone marrow testing and biopsy done once after getting ITP in 2005 and all the results were normal , it is required to ever do it again?

The test might be needed again if doctors would like to try new medication for treatment, e.g. eltrombopag or N-plate. In this case they would need to make sure there's no platelet destruction going on in bone marrow itself and also that bone marrow produces platelets fine.

Hi,

Ive read that the nplate was helpful with itp. Do you know if thats true

None of us are Doctors here but I would suspect it might be neccessary if blood tests were abnormal and you had been on something like Nplate for a long period of time.

Hi not sure if it will be reassurring or not but my daughter had 3 bone marrow tests performed in the space of 1 year. So I think if the doctors deem it necessary then yes they would need to perform it again. Hope this helps.
