Ruptured Aorta Recovery

I have recently bee discharged from hospital following a ruptured abdominal aorta aneurysm. I spent 10 days in the HDU and was discharged from hospital after a few days in a vascular ward.

After approximately 1 week the operation developed a leak from the aorta and was readmitted to hospital and underwent keyhole surgery to repair the leak. I felt very much better after the operation than i did from the previous op.

I am doing fine I think I am exercising regularly, I am eating well, putting on a little weight.

I am not sleeping well at all and have been prescribed some mild sleeping tablets to help.

I have what appears to be a irritating tummy with spasmodic gurgling and slight discomfort.

My GP thinks this is probably normal and considering what I have recently undergone will sort itself out eventually.

I was wondering if there is anybody else had similar symptoms as myself.

if you were on any antibiotics maybe look at adding pre & probiotics & live yoghurt, kefir etc etc in your diet

Hi Sepsur thank you for your reply, we have already the Kefir ready to start taking. I have to be honest though reading through some of the posts I feel a bit of a fraud with my only real issue being discomfort in my stomach. Although I did lose a stone in weight and yes I was given lots of antibiotics. I just hope I continue along the positive path that I am on at the moment. It was my son who suggested taking part in the ICUSteps program. I will stay part of it for the time being until my stomach gets back to normal.

it may help to contact the nurse specialist in the department that care for you. They are usually very approachable and have a better understanding of after effects
