ICU to home

Dad was admitted to a&e due to diabetes but turned out he had pneumonia and out of the blue his best chance of survival would be to transfer him to icu & put him in an induced coma. He thankfully came back to us after3 weeks he was talking & understood after a brief spell of delirium. He was then transferred to a ward then onto a rehabilitation centre. It’s only been two days but he’s not happy being home. He’s missing the rehab

I found that I wasn’t particularly sensitive to other people when I was discharged home, a lot of my social filters were down and I tended to speak before my brain had a chance to catch up. Is your Dad getting any rehab at home?

I remember at the end of my three month stay in hospital I felt reluctant to go home. I think there was an element of being institutionalised and reluctance to let go of the day-to-day care. It took me a bit of time to feel settled in back home.
