Hi all, so today we have been told that my dad's lungs are filling with fluid and not draining as they should, said there is not much else they can do as kidneys not great either. Anybody had anything like this said pls as today is the best day we have had in 3 weeks, still on ventolater but acknowledged us, cant understand all this, cant just leave him like this when he's awake, just a bit frustrating. Thanks.

I hope you get more promising news today

Hi. I am sorry to read this about your dad. I know at one stage my family were told to expect the worse, but it did not mean they had given up. I was lucky and eventually responded to the various treatments, so there is always hope.

Please don’t give up. My sister has been in an enduced coma from pneumonia and covid. Her lungs were like cement the doctor explained, we also were told to get the family together to start to make a decision because she was going to have no quality of life. Going on 10 weeks now she is out of her coma taken off the ventilator and even though she is extremely weak she will be working hard at physical therapy, a long recovery. But I’m extremely happy 😃 that I have my sister back. My advice don’t give up there are miracle everyday. ❤️🙏

My husband got covid pneumonia on November 1 and was intebated and placed on a ventilator November 10, 2020. By the end of November they told me that his lungs were full of blood clots and there was nothing more they could do they wanted to have a meeting to discuss pulling the plug? I got a second opinion instead from another doctor who used blood thinners to clear out his lungs. It was a high dosage and there are risks...but it worked!

Once he was stable I had to push them to Trach him and then moved him to another hospital where his primary care physician took over his care.

I prayed and prayed and God has answered all my prayers! My husband is no longer on the ventilator after 10 months and he is successfully weaning from the trach now! He is still on dyalisis and we are praying that his kidneys can recover 🙏

He got severe muscle athropy due to being in a coma for three months and is recovering...slowly!

In the next few weeks he will be coming home to rehabilitate and I can't wait!

I was told if my husband survived he would never wake from his coma because he was brain dead and that he would never get off ventilator and trach or walk again? I dealt with horrible delusions but was so happy he woke up!

It has been a long journey but my faith never let me give up...just kept learning and advocating!

The encouragement I received on this thread helped me when I needed hope! Stay strong 💪
