Long covid symptoms seem to be the same as I am suffering from 6 years after sepsis and pneumonia is there a connection can anyone help. I think it is more to do with being put into a coma than the infection is this a possibility

Covid symptoms
Totally agree. I'm now 5 years out of ICU having had meningococcal bacterial meningitis, sepsis and pneumonia and I've been thinking the same. It seems to be what a lot of Ex ICU patients experience afterwards, Post-Intensive Care Syndrome ( PICS ). I haven't seen any comparison made by a clinician, but expect there will be research done on this at some point. It'll be interesting to see a medical assessment of this.
I completely agree that on the face of it PSS, long Covid, Pics , ME, Chrinic fatigue all look the same - the causes all maybe slightly different but they all play out the same. We are doing everything to help people rehabilitate - all sorts of ways to combat this - no magic pill- a lot of hard work but a way to rebuild esteem
So agree with you. I just hope the connection is made and actually this applies to anyone who has been in ICU. Does anyone know a person with a public face who could make the point!
I agree I had flue B pneumonia and sepsis 3 years ago and was on ecmo for 6 weeks both my gp and partner I feel did not believe me But I still have problems now but I’ve become quite good at masking them but I still have problems now with fatigue and tiredness, I feel like once I was discarded I was forgotten in the system and feel a bit bitter that help is going to be given to covid patients and I was offered nothing but I hope there is a link found and people like me are helped just as much as covid patients
