If it brings anyone assurance, I’m well on the way to physical recovery from an induced coma. I have had a few of these over the years and they’re not Covid-related. As usual, there has been significant delirium. My query that I’ve never been able to answer fully: when does the delirium itself set in? I’m assuming it’s not from the start of ICU or at the very end. My best guess is that it’s part of the brain ‘recovering’ as it awakes from the drugs - propofol etc - working their way through the system? Is there a way then to better prepare patients for a full and speedy mental recovery?

Perhaps you would be kind enough to arrange another visit but this time get wired up first to answer the question 🤔
I don’t know how you could prepare since each person is different and tolerates chemicals differently. Many don’t experience delirium. Very hard to answer - I came through it very quickly
