So mum got taken out of tracheostomy yesterday and they put her back on today as she has a collapsed lung. Does anyone have experience with this? It’s so heartbreaking as we thought she was finally out of the woods and now she’s back on ventilator. The doctors did admit that they took her of the ventilator to soon. What’s annoying is that we have been calling today and they didn’t let us know of her situation but complained were calling to much. We had a FaceTime call scheduled and they cancelled saying they’re to busy and understaffed

Collapsed lung and reintubated again
It must be very difficult for you, this pandemic throws up the most impossible situations. I’m sure if they could have connected you, they would have -I was talking to an ICU nurse friend last night, mentioning “wasn’t it good that the tide was turning”, her words were not so positive. I feel it is hell for the staff at present too. Fingers crossed that you get more promising news in the morning.
My partner recently experienced a collapsed lung. When I heard the news I was shocked. The way they discover it is by performing chest X-rays. It’s been 2 days and I followed up with the nurse. She said that it looks like his lungs have healed/are very close to being completely healed. Now that it looks better, they’ve decreased his ventilator settings. I hope this gives you a glimmer of hope, it can be treated.
