Hi All

I was wondering if anyone know how long a colapse lung take to recover?

I’d have to ask him - can’t remember the ins & outs - he’d been in an accident

This is so scary. All the complications with covid 19.

Yes, critical care can be remorseless- I remember starting to be aware in ICU & how one small issue would snowball. I kept picking up infection after infection which would drive all my SATS in the wrong direction, constant IV antibiotics, antivirals - heart would go funny, oxygen levels would drop. Back on the merry go round of tests & procedures and more medication to feel shit from.

While my family looked on helpless. No fun for anyone - but I came home eventually.

Hi,

One of the many complications my dad had was a collapsed lung and we were told it was a big set back we really didn’t need as they were trying to wean him off the ventilator, they put a chest drain in to help it, which was removed 5/6 days later but then he needed another one for a little while longer BUT they did continue to wean him off the ventilator whilst it was healing (we assumed this would be put on hold) and I can happily say they succeeded!, for a little while after they managed this, he still had the chest drain in as it was still doing what it needed to :)

I had a large and spontaneous Pneumothorax while I was sedated in ICU...They inserted a chest drain which remained in place for 2 weeks...Oddly when I "woke up" I didn't even notice it under my armpit ! Sure I felt a full pain at times but when a Dr pointed it out I was very shocked as I didn't know what it was and thought it was something to do with my heart ! I left ICU to a Respiratory ward with it still on attached for a few days before it was removed. It's a fairly common procedure which Dr are well used to perform and deal with. I never sustain any problems from it afterwards.
