So on Thursday my fiance was vomiting from the flu and was asleep and laying flat and committed and aspirated into his lungs almost immediately after I begged him to go to the hospital and he wouldn't go, about 2 hours later his mom found him(because I asked her to go check) on the bathroom floor vomiting and having diffaculty breathing took him to urgent care his o2 was at 64 and respirations high they called ems we went to emergency they told us he had a bad left lung pneumonia they admitted him to icu yeasterday(Friday) he was very panicked because of the difficulty breathing but his o2 was much better but he was feeling trapped because respirations were in the 30s and 40s I had to leave to take care of our 8 yr old but he was stable and resting this morning I got a call that his respirations were in the 50s and he was begging them to help him they tried other options to relieve him.but he was still struggling and he agreed to let them put him on a ventilator all of his other tests are good but I'm so scared seeing him like this and not knowing when he's going to come off the vent and I'm really confused on how it got to this point I just feel like breaking down.

This article was quiet a good and helpful description of pneumonia.

medlineplus.gov/ency/articl...

I was blue lighted to hospital after my wife begged me to go to hospital or see Doctor. I saw GP after he came to our home and stated to my wife “ Get him to hospital, he is dying.” I didn’t know I had, flu, double pneumonia & septic shock. My wife also had no idea, even though I was blue, and unable to breathe. I don’t remember anything, nor might your partner, so don’t concern yourself. He is in the best place, so you are as well to concentrate on your little 8yr old, who will be scared & confused.

Intubation is a necessary evil.

I hate to respond because my wife had a misdiagnosis. My wife had lifelong asthma and was having a severe asthma reaction called anaphylaxis with her throat closing up...not a lung problem. Her O2 was in the 70's. Both of us told the ER doctor she needed a shot of epinephrine and a breathing treatment with an O2 mask and albuterol to relax her throat. The ER doctor insisted that she was on full time O2 at home with a home nurse to dress her to come to the ER. I told him not true we were on a cruise ship for the previous week. He said that was a lie. He insisted that she had a heart valve replacement 2 months prior and that she had pneumonia. While I was arguing that the doctor had the wrong medical records my wife took off the 02 mask and told the doctor he needed to put albuterol with the oxygen. He said he would take care of it and I expected that she would get the shot and the albuterol but when I got back into the room she had been strapped down and intubated. They had her height and weight wrong and overdosed her on anesthetics and everything else destroying her kidneys and liver. After 13 days she was officially brain dead so they agreed to remove the intubation tube and ventilator saying she would die within seconds. She lived 32 hours breathing on her own with 96-99% oxygen saturation without the intubation tube and ventilator before during the last 4 hours her oxygen level started dropping she died proving that the doctors were wrong to start with. By the way, the nurses showed me how she could breathe without the ventilator for 15-20 minutes while being transported in the hospital for tests and procedures.

She had been in that same ER 8 other times and got the shot and albuterol breathing treatment with the doctor saying she had pneumonia. The other 8 times we went home after an hour with no problems. Each time we saw other doctors within 2-3 days who looked at the XRAYS saying it was not pneumonia. Any ER doctor should recognize anaphylaxis. Attorneys won't take the case because there were so many doctors involved in the coverup and don't believe me that it was anaphylaxis that I had witnessed for 45 years of marriage to her. They even documented on her death that she was 5'4" and 139 pounds when she was only 5'0" and 106 pounds. The lawyers don't care about that either. By the way, she had an advanced directive ordering that she would not be put on life support, but the attorneys don't care about that either.

He did the right thing to let them ventilate him. His body can rest while they do the work for him and help clear that horrible pneumonia out of his lungs. They will weigh up when its best to wake him up and remove the breathing tube (they wont do it till its safe to do it) you need to be prepared that they may need to put the tube back for a few days longer if hes not quite ready (it does happen) He is in good hands. Please talk to the nurses if your confused about anything. Take care of yourself, he will need u when he is awake x

My dad had pneumonia as a result of going into cardiac arrest and having CPR following a heart attack. Whilst his heart was sorted within a few hours of arriving at hospital the infection kept him in ICU for nearly 2 weeks. There were lots of ups and downs but he’s now home and recovering well. It’s awful seeing someone you love on a ventilator but if he needs it it’s the best thing for him. Take one day at a time, there will be bad days and good days. Best wishes

be persistent or agressive to his doctor especially the fluid in his lungs just ask them early suggestion if he need tracheostomy is a medical procedure — either temporary or permanent — that involves creating an opening in the neck in order to place a tube into a person's windpipe......... because the intubate for one person is long lasting for 14 days only after that they will be start leaking inside and that is not good because it will be start accumulating a fluid in his lungs:( now I know we can be a little bit rude to our doctor in a nice way because in my experience i'm always nice to them when my husband was very sick:(.....
