After going to the hospital I was woke up after 4 days of sedation I was told I had doubl3 pneumonia, bronchitis and the flu. I have copd. Since then after intubation I have trouble with walking as my legs are very weak is this due to the low potassium and willmit eventually return to normal?

Bronchitis
Hi Kymmer,
It can take 10-14 days to recover from everyday you are on ICU. When people are on life support, there can be a great deal of muscle waste too, some suffer 40% loss in the first 10 days.
It took me over a month to get walking again. I have no knowledge of the effect of low potassium.
Hope your recovery goes soothly
Hi.
Hope you are feeling stronger soon. You may need physiotherapy to get moving. I came out of hospital using two crutches as I was so weak. I used one after about ten days and gradually gained strength and confidence to go without. Steps and stairs were a nightmare. My first visit to my GP was in a wheelchair. Following my kidney failure I was taken off painkillers which slowed me considerably as I have arthritis. Four months later I am back on Tramadol but not anti inflamatories so at last can do more. Yesterday I gardened for two hours and I feel some of my previous stamina is returning four months on. There is no rushing the healing process, so patience is needed. Good luck.
Thanks Sheila 21 yes stairs are a nightmare. I find walking a distance my legs just don't feel right and don't want to work proper. I am doing the physio the showed me in the hospital 3x a day just being patient doing what I was told and hoping for a full recovery. I still fall at times it is so annoying
