Tracheotomy/ ventilator
My husband was on the ventilator for 10 days and then got switched to the tracheostomy.
57 days intubated and then about 21-23 days with trachy
My husband was intubated for about 7 days then had a tracheostomy for about 7 weeks.
My sister was in a coma and ventilator then after a while trach tube which was removed before she got home
It varies! My best friend was on it after 10 days of being intubated.
Hello Zoe11,
My close best friend who is still in the ICU 9 weeks and 2 days today, had his tracheotomy fitted after 2 weeks.
Ben
Intubated for over four weeks, trachy fitted after two weeks, three to four days after coming out of an induced coma. A speaking valve was fitted to the trachy at three weeks.
I was also rushed to the hospital with breathing difficulties as soon as I went in the back the doctor immediately said they had to put tube down my throat so a team of people came in and started to take my clothes off and started the process of putting me to sleep the last thing I remembered I threw up on the floor and that was on Nov.17,2017 I was in a coma and on ventilator I was on the vent. For about 21 days the reason why because I walking pneumonia for a while and because of that I develop ards (acute respiratory distress syndrome) which could be fatal while on the vent I caught pneumonia in my other lung and on the 22nd day I was giving a trach and I also had a feeding tube I woke up out of the coma a couple days before Christmas but I really don't remember waking up I stayed in the hospital until Jan.13,2018 and went straight to rehab from hospital cause I had to learn to walk all over again and I'm still in the process of learning how to walk the whole ordeal was and is very scary not knowing what you actually had to go threw.
