Hi Sharon.

What medication are you on? Have you had blood tests for liver function and, if so, what were the results.

I had two bouts of hepatitis in the 1990s, before I was diagnosed with APS, for which no cause was found. My liver functions were abnormal until I was put on Warfarin, then they returned to normal and Prof Hughes explained to me that he believed that my problems had been due to sludging of the blood through the liver. Also, APS can affect the functioning of the bowel, including the Duodenum, which is near the gall bladder, and this can also cause uper right quadrant pain too.

Don't worry about the gastroscopy, it is not as bad as it sounds, I've had 3 now (2 under sedation and the last one without sedation, as they couldn't find a vein to put the IV in). It is a very quick procedure, now they can record it on disk and look at it at their leisure, rather than having to take longer and make notes of what they are seeing.

Good luck and keep us informed.

Best wishes.

Dave

Hi dave iam on warfarin, amitrypline, calcium, statins. Recently had alot of bloods done not sure if they included my liver function. its painful when I walk as if im agrivating something inside and if i eat. I think ive had every scan/camera/test done to me already. Did you have to come off your warfarin my doctor said might have to stop warfarin for couple days.

thanks sharon

Hi Sharon, no I didn't.

I think that you should try to get to see Prof Hughes, privately, if you can.

Best wishes.

Hi Sharon, yes as Sheena said, the camera just feels weird and it is over before you know it. Anticipation is always the worst. Take care...Teresa

Hi,

Statins can cause problems with the liver.

I have a friend who has been on them for 6 years and keeps getting liver pain. She has had just about every test under the sun and a course of steroids but they think the statins are causing the problem.

Hope this helps x
