When I lived in the UK Professor D'Cruz was my doctor at Tommies. I found him to be straight to the point, a very caring person who listened to what I had to say, well informed about Lupus/APS etc and offered an excellent treatment plan for me. I can't fault the way he treated me at all. He made my initial diagnosis. I hold him in very high esteem and miss him now that I live outside of the UK. Personally, I think that you're really lucky being referred to him. Good luck with your consultation with him, I don't think that you'll be disappointed at all xxx
I am under Dr D'Cruz. My APS was quite extensive when I saw him and he diagnosed me on the spot with it and SLE. As far as I am concerned he saved my life as all the rest of the drs were ditching so when I had my first stroke he had me on the meds already so it was not as bad as it could have been. I would strongly advise anyone be on his books who are lucky enough to do this.
I have been seeing Professor D'Cruz for the last 5 years. It was he who on my first consultation told me exactly what I had wrong with me. He is kind, caring and to the point. He gives me a thorough examination and send me off to other consultants in the hospital if he has a concern about anything. I cannot fault his care, treatment and professionalism.
you are very lucky, i got diagnosed with sero negative lupus by my rheumy along with aps and raynauds. i was sent to dr d'cruz for a second confirmation. i went armed with a diary and lots of photo's of how my body reacted to symptoms. he was very thorough asked lots of questions and was very patient and understanding. good luck
I \m am so pleased that so many of you found such an excellent doctor. With strokes I have been in the care of Dr. who is described as the Czar for strokes, but I have found him very rude on all occasions. Just got to name and it won't come up! It is 4 letters
Will send it when the word comes up, could take 10 minutes or 2 weeks!
It is so difficult when we are treated badly when ill, I have had many an experience of this, both for myself and my children, in the right spirit on this site, we name and flag up excellence, but do not name professionals who have behaved in the other direction, this way we can build our strengths professionally across the board. Sorry you had such and awful time, I hope things are getting better for you. Mary F x
I have seen Professor D'Cruz at St Thomas' and, like InSpain, I found him to be quite business like but extremely thorough. I have seen a lot of rheumatologists, both NHS and privately, and he is the best I have ever seen. He gave me a lot of time, a very thorough physical examination, listened to everything I had to say and he did masses of blood tests too! I was very impressed. He is the only rheumatologist who spotted visible nailfold capillaries which are now being investigated. If your treatment is anything like mine was, you won't be disappointed and you are in excellent hands.
Good luck!
I have seen him and he is fantatstic you have nothing to worry about, he listened and was not patranosing at all really good guy!!!
Prof David D'Cruz is one of the best doctors you could see He works incredibly hard, not only as a consultant, but as a trustee for our charity, numerous research projects - all of them very important, publishing articles and mentoring students. You won't find a nicer person or better doctor.
My sister is under the care of Professor D Cruz. She has been ill since last year with high blood pressure, abnormal blood tests and heart scans. Her consultant ignored all this and she ended up in hospital. We had to change to a new consultant, I suggested he refer her to the Lupus unit where she saw the professor for the first time.
She was so ill the professor made her see the eye doctor, have blood tests and an ECG on the first appointment. He then found a bed for her and admitted her. The professor was caring, he listened and went through her notes with a fine tooth comb. The visit to him was the first time she had and examination her previous consultant never bothered. The tests on her first appointment took the whole day he came to find her at the eye clinic!. He was so caring and knew exactly what was wrong with her and merely used the tests as a confirmation.
I had lost faith in doctors watching my 26 year old sister not being able to walk around the house. However Professor D Cruz has diagnosed what casing her high blood pressure and problems with her heart. If it wasn't for this amazing and knowledgeable professor I am not sure what would have happened to my sister.
Honestly speaking and it may sound clinched but I cant express my gratitude to a professor so caring, who has untangled the mess my sister was left in. If you are under the care of the professor then you are definitely in the best hands.
