Oh dear sorry about that, perhaps look up the main institute for health in Australia or in particular rheumIatology lists, for the individual specialists , I am sure somewhere there, you will find somebody.. Sorry for my geographically awful mistake!

No worries MaryF. I have been seeing a hematologist here in Perth but she never mentioned Hughes. It was my new GP who had attended one of professor Hughes' lectures in London, who put all the symptoms together. It was like someone had turned the light on.

Hi there - the only Australian doctor we have listed at the charity is Dr Tim Godfrey who is based in Melbourne. It might be worth contacting him to see if he knows of anyone in your area. There are definitely other Hughes patients in Australia and they are often trying to get in touch with each other :) Once this site goes live next week, they may come along and join in - fingers crossed!

Kate do we know how the site being launched and when?

in reply to paddyandlin

Paddy, the site should have been going live at the end of this week but due to the move, we are postponing it until early next week. The NHS have promised a seamless move, but I want to make sure I have internet access and email before emailing our members. Would you be happy to let everyone know on the APLSUK forums?

I am going to need to find an APS specialist in Perth, Western Australia. Having read the rest of the posts there doesn't seem to be one in Perth listed so if any one does know of one please can you let me know. Thanks.

Also Travelnut. I have a great GP here in Perth. Luckily for me he attended one of Prof Hughes's lecture in the UK....Lucky for me. He is so supportive. I am booked in to see the pain clinic at Charles Gardner Hospital next week. Hope to find some relief from the head aches

Hi Mysti from Western Australia. I'm Marymac or marycath from Mackay Qld. Flew to Dr Godfrey years ago- did not help, nor did any others since start of 2007. Flew to London mid-lastyear and Prof Hughes confirmed APS, and gave me details of Dr Helen in Sydney. Flew there Nov and Feb, fly there next week to see her for 2 appts, as she is helping. Another lass from Hughes ex UK, now in Sydney, also went to Dr Helen this year after asking me her details, and is getting help too. Let me know. I'd found a Dutch eye specialist here Jan 2010 in Mackay who knows APS, who gave me the referral to London I asked for, and then to Dr Helen

Hi guys from WA, i see Steve Ward in Perth - he works out of Joondalup, Hollywood in Nedlands and Charlie Gardners, and he has worked under Dr Hughes and is now out here - he is really easy to talk to - although a little laid back, but he knows his stuff and isn't scared of getting to the bottom of things. He also ensures that his reception staff know who the APS'ers are and we get to up the queue to see him - something i think my GP needs to understand...

Hi there Mary,

Were you at the Seminar at StThomas in London and lost your purse ? I think it was last year or the year before-
