Bleed

Banged my arm 9 days ago and now it is throbbing, been to urgent care and they did nothing, now at A&e and they think my vein has a leak , the pain is really bad. They not sure what to do .

I have n ver had a bleed so any advice would be helpful

Hi Holly

No they haven’t . They sent me home with pain killers and told me to contact my Haematologist . They had no idea what to do and now it’s weekend and can’t get hold of them 😢

I agree, you MUST push for the on call Haematologist they need to access you, you just have to push harder at the week-ends, ring up and ask them to help you. MaryF

You have told us you are on Warfarin and Clopidogrel for your APS. You have a bleed you say. What INR is your INR?

As Holly says it must be possible to get to someone.

Ring the hospital, and ask them to bleep the on call Haematologist, that is what I would do. If that does not work ring 111 and ask when accessed who in the area is on call. push push and push. MaryF

Did the docs give you any advice, such as ice or wearing a sling? ( And I'm not a doc. I dont know if ice or a sling would help.) I certainly understand your frustration. But one would think they could ascess the situation and decide if VitaminK infusion was warranted. But hey! I'm not a doc.

Yes they said ice packs and keep it elevated above heart level. It’s so painful 😖
