Hi sorry think I am repeating myself here as I think I asked before about quadrantanopia still trying to get used to it ( lost my driving license and as a result quite a lot of my independence

I didn't want to ignore your question but I really don't know the answer, sorry. Can you discuss your concerns with the neurologist that diagnosed you, maybe send them an email?

Mully, I have many white matter lesions the other term for hyperintensities, due to cerebral APS. So this does not necessarily mean you have white matter disease. White matter disease is also a broad term for many different illnesses. As per Holly’s reply speak to your Neurologist. As to the quadrantanopia I do not suffer from this

I do think it would be good to book a call with your Neurologist as it sounds like you have a lot of detailed questions to ask about quite similar things. It will be interesting to hear what they have to say, regarding lesions and white matter. MaryF

Hi Thank you for your replies I don't have a Neurologist In fact I haven't seen any specialist since St Thomases and Proff D'cruz but after having my warfarin withdrawn by my GP then as a result suffering a DVT, pulmonary embolism then eventually a stroke (which caused the quadrantanopia( basically quarter eyesight loss in both eyes) I have now been given a stoke specialist who also seems quite well informed about Hughes syndrome and I am finally getting some help (if a little bit late!) She confirmed the stoke and also showed me an MRI of my brain so many white matter hyperintensities Told me after examination that my balance has "gone" is unlikely to return plus my brain is likely to be quite damaged feeling that I have had multiple strokes before It's all a bit distressing, to be honest and was completely unavoidable my GP has a lot to answer for (hung up on me 5 times during the stoke over a 40minute period) told my husband I needed to pull myself together or he would stop ringing) so lawyer here we come !!!

mully please don’t be too dispondant. Although there is no excuse for the behaviour of your GP and you must complain about their actions, don’t give up on believing that you can make very good recoveries from a Stroke. The brain has remarkable capacity to remap so please ask for Neuro rehab and do what you can to help that along. Many people get their driving licence back too so just hang in there as there is hope but it takes time.
