Hi I had acupuncture regularly for several weeks/months years ago for 2 very different reasons. I found it brilliant personally, it really helped me others may have other experiences. Not for a knee issue.

Thankyou I have sent a message to the acupuncture clinic, listing my medical problems and the fact I am on Warfarin to see what the day as well

I have been given exercises from the physio and lost weight, but my knee still really painful and can’t keep up with the family. I will let you now how I get on

I looked for the search button on this site but couldn’t see it I am sure it used to be on here

Thanks again

Hi, search button is at top right. Not had it done myself.

Glad you have sent details over to clinic, I understand that they can use a thinner needle to avoid bleeding, good practitioners will be aware of our sticky thick blood.

Keep up the physio and I hope your pain eases soon x

No problem for me (was traditional Chinese medicine practitioner not western dry needling as it’s known) other than a tiny bit of bleeding in certain areas it was fine if you are concerned about that aspect? The needles are very fine.

Thankyou all for your replies I hadn’t realised how expensive it was, think I will carry on with weight loss, pills and physio for now and if by Christmas it’s not improved I will have it as a shared present from the family

Being in the U.K. that will be free,

but I would have to pay for acupuncture,

I haven’t got health insurance and I think they would tell me to get lost with all my medical history, perhaps I should sue the doctors who have messed me up, by not keeping up with their training

Thanks again

I had acupuncture off and on for years when I was on warfarin. I found it really helped with fatigue. Also I had a membership of Simply Health which refunded half the cost. There are several similar companies which do similar services and although you pay a monthly fee , it made it easier to afford the acupuncture.

I've gotten acupuncture for years, mostly for migraines. It didn't help my migraines or knees, but helped with my general state of health such as sleeping, allergies etc. I once had dry needling for a shoulder issue from a physio (an experience I won't repeat). Good luck!

Yes, dry needling is not recommended. Sorry you had a bad experience!😔

I’ve been on warfarin many years and have had Bi weekly acupuncture for my entire body for as many years without incident! If the acupuncturist is very knowledgeable about blood thinners and blood clotting disorders, you are within your therapeutic range, you should have no problem.

I did not have it for pain but for relaxation and heavy vaginal bleeding at the time...found it wonderful. Went to a licensed therapist’ s office who also maintained the calming atmosphere when it was done. I would do it again if need be🙂
