Thanks Mary
Thanks Mary, quite informative.
Thanks. Reposted to LUpus Patients Understanding & Support (LUPUS).
Thank you thank you!
Thank you Mary so much!
Take good care over there all of you!

I am now 76 but ok. Was at the Karolinska hospital yesterday for the yearly Echocardiography with doppler. I can take the stairs and also go for a daily walk for 30-45 minutes so I am sure I am fit and quite ok. Two leaky heartvalves and Pulmonell hypertension ( still steady though I hope) as I keep my bloodpressure and INR in place which I think is very important.
I miss you all!
Actually Prof Hunt seems to disagree with what he says.
He's says:
What causes these blood clots? Severe covid-19 infection is associated with very high levels of inflammatory cytokines, leading to higher levels of fibrinogen, a pro-sticky blood component. This leads to a higher risk for thrombosis with the pattern of thrombosis similar to a condition called Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC). DIC can occur in many other infections but also with cancer, childbirth and surgery.
She says:

@bhwords
T & H learning over the pandemic:
- COVID-19 coagulopathy is not DIC but part of a profound inflammatory response
- what is seen on CTPA is not always PE but can be in situ thrombosis - immunothrombosis
- local fibrinolysis in healing lung injury spills D-dimers into plasma.
Confusing??
It is a bit confusing!
The doctors themselves caution that they themselves fully expect to evolve their knowledge as new information unfolds .
Prof Hunt said in a webinar, “ what I say today may not be what I say three months from now.”
And I’m now thinking in response to the journal out of Jerusalem that Ros shared earlier this week... who would have ever though a gout medication would potentially hold such promise?
It reminds me once again how in absolute awe I am of the diversity of human talent. I am humbled ...
I think our main experts will continue to thrash this one out as new learning material come available, personally I try and read what all the experts have to say, keep well. MaryF
