APS and wholes in heart

I ask this question every once n while to see if anyone new has the problem. Not long after I was diagnosed with APS I was also diagnosed with a PFO & an ASD. Both of these are different types of wholes in the heart that allow clots to jump sides and go straight to ur brain. It caused a much higher number of TIA’s and strokes then average APS patients.

If you have experienced these problems plz let me know and also tell talk about wether or not I had an increased number of stokes due to the issue.

Thank you

They where both closed in surgery in June of 2011. However, before the closure I was having up to 8 episodes a day & those where just the ones I knew about, does t include night time ones. However the closure device has been found to, in some patients, starts to damage the heart tissue around it creating new holes for clots to go thru. I’m just wondering if it common or am I just bring me as in being different and even more/ or different complications than the average complicated APS patient.

I hope you can meet with your main Hughes Syndrome/APS consultant and or your GP to find out if they can do anything further to help? MaryF

Have you called Albuquerque to find out if the university has an APS specialist?

Sometimes cardiologists know quite a bit about APS. Mine does. He even knows all about micro clotting. He teaches at San Antonio’s university hospital.

What insurance do you have? Medicare you once said?

University health care systems should work well with that. Very affordable and excellent health care as a rule.
