Occluded tummy arteries

Good morning I was wondering if any of you had Coeliac artery and messentric arteries occlusion ? As a consequence I had a perforated bowel, have any of you had that also? I know it’s quite a rare extreme but it would be nice to know I’m not alone.

Hi there, as you know I have not, but I do know somebody else who this happened to and they also ended up with Budd Chiari Syndrome alongside that. They used to be on this forum, but not sure if they still are, a professional that I know out in Suffolk. MaryF

I’ve had something similar, ( fortunately not nearly as severe) but I’m in Texas. My issue was vascular, not arterial. It caused paralytic ileus , where bowels completely shut down. X- rays would reveal air In bowel loops- a distinct line where fluids were on bottom and air on top- and no parastatals.

I would be rushed into surgery. No obstructions found...

This did cause the gall bladder quit working , ( although now it can be assumed a low thyroid may have plated a part.) The common bile duct also became infected, and the infection was traveling to the pancreas. I was on IV antibiotics in the hospital post surgery for a few days very ill. I had just celebrated my 30th birthday.

This cycle contained and the same thing happened to appendix...

Once I was diagnosed with APS and commenced on warfarin it was determined by my gastro doc and colon rectal surgeon that retrospective analysis - it was vascular clotting to bowels that was causing pseudo obstructions / ileus. “ mesenteric ischemia “ they called it.

Wow you are very similar to me I’ve had involvement with all the organs mentioned. Pancreas, bile ducts, bowel gallbladder and appendix. Mine was very postnatal my baby at the time was just 7 weeks old when I was in icu recovering from emergency surgery from a perforated bowel. My surgery was aged 30 too. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I meant to type,” this cycle continued...”

It was certainly not contained!

It went to surgery three times before diagnosis of APS.

Severe nausea due to ileus with occasional vomiting with the nausea.

Also , like Holly, pain happened ( and still can if INR dips) after eating.

Also, like Holly, no gall stones associated with my gallbladder. Just a very low ,”ejection fraction”.

Hi, mine slightly different, my celiac artery stenosed, artery closed by just over 50%. Too close to aorta artery to have angioplasty stent to keep open. I have pain after eating, as the blood can't get to stomach.

No gall stones, but blood clots blocking flow so had to have gall bladder removed.

Later diagnosed with bile acid malapsoption and pancreas not working by creating enzymes.

Holly the dreaded stomach pains do you vomit because of the pain?

Used to but now just eat smaller meals and keep my blood thin. Thicker and stickier my blood is the more pain I have, as it struggles to get through the stenosed artery to get to the tummy to help digest the food.
