Hi. As I have told everyone sometime ago, my son suffered his first stroke at the age of 30 and by the time he was 58 had had 12 in all. He was not diagnosed with APS until about 3/4 years ago. Unfortunately, the strokes eventually affected his swallowing so he had to be careful but it also lead to many, many chest infections. Unfortunately, and sadly he passed away last week due to another chest infection turning into pneumonia. It is such a wrench as he took up a big part of every day and I wonder will I every get over this as my life feels empty. Instead of flowers for the funeral I have been asked about donations to APS but cannot find anything here in the UK. Does anyone know where to send donations otherwise I think The Stroke Assn. is the next best area to look. Thanks to everyone.

Dear Zimmer,

We feel ourselves a sort of family here, and I’m so glad you thought to reach out in this way - mainly as Sticky Blood Monitor Says, for support for yourself .

One of the administrators on this forum is a woman named Ros. She is a degreed counselor. She can be of service to you right now in whatever capacity she deems appropriate should you like to avail yourself to her very sweet and soothing soul.

The “bigger picture “ importance of GHIC Charity is not only does it fund stroke awareness and research, but so much more. It benefits studies in heart attack, pregnancy loss/ premature birth, visual loss, kidney complications, dysautonomia, and many more multi system diseases that are brought about due to APS related blood clotting.

I, for one, as well as all reading your post, will always remember your son and his lovely mother.
