Waiting for a diagnosis

I am new here! So glad to have found a support system!! I had a heart attack 5 weeks ago that was caused by an embolism. A cardiologist determined that I have a very small opening in the septum between the atria of my heart - it's a birth defect. He believes I had a clot that slipped through there. Anyone else had this happen? I'm waiting to see another specialist to determine whether I will need heart surgery to close the opening.

Hi there, are you being tested for Hughes Syndrome/APS? Often people have a Thyroid disorder alongside it. MaryF

Yes I am waiting on my bloodtest results...I was told I had antiphospholipid antibodies back in 1996 when I did invitro fertilization and took heparin shots then. That doctor neglected to tell me that APS was a very dangerous syndrome...I had severe endometriosis and have been troubled by some migraines. I had a heart attack 5 weeks ago that was caused an embolism so here we are...
