I have a question I understand with cuts there's concerns when you have APS but what about when you hit your knee twice very hard on a metal frame no bleeding but very swollen and can't straighten it would I need to be concerned about anything like that? Thanks in advance sorry if it's silly

If it were me, I would apply ice pack 10mins only at a time, elevate when sitting. Observe if it gets worse or hot to touch I would seek medical advice. This is what I would do, but if you are still concerned see your Doctor

I was carefully holding a new indoor pot plant and then went crashing up my stairs-soil and plant everywhere and dog looked quite confused! Did what Daisy suggested for you and the swelling went down but the bruise lasted a bit longer and was very tender for a week or so.

Thank you all I did end up at the er per hubby nothing broken but tore something so I'm in a immobilizer n off to a orthopedic in 2 days.

Make sure you keep moving your toes while in immobilizer it helps circulation to leg and foot... don't want to get a DVT if you can prevent it!

It depends if you're anti-coagulated.

Bruising can be exacerbated, cuts can bleed more.

If you're not though (unlikely if you're diagnosed APS) my concern would just be for the impact itself!

Exactly what I was asking to know thank you so very much and yes ma'am/sir I'm LA Positive confirmed on 2 tests

No, he means if you've started anti coagulation. If you have APS, but are not yet anti coagulated, you would likely bleed less if you were cut. ( you need to learn about the mechanics of the disease!)

For now, until you have the doctor give the full diagnosis, ( which really needs to happen if you have clinical symptoms which I'm sure you must or your GP would not have wisely run the panel- I just haven't read what your symptoms are...)

So what you need to say is..." I've tested positive twice 12 weeks apart for the LA antibody , and am waiting for an appointment for a Rheumatologist now. I assume I'll now be evaluated for the clotting part of the criteria to determine where we go from here"

Remember we talked about the Sapporo and Sidney diagnostic criteria? There are two parts... lab / blood work part and clinical/ clotting part.

In America this clotting part can get tricky. It can be ridiculous to my mind. It's because anti coagulation is so serious - doctors want to make very certain- no margin of error. It's stringent.

So it's not quite correct to say " yes, I have APS" at this point. I know this is very complicated and confusing. It's not like strep throat where you get a swab and get an answer 15 min later.

As I keep telling you... " be patient."

This process can feel ridiculous, and in many ways and for in some instances , in is. Hang in there. This process will try your patience!

Like shampoo directions:

“Lather, rinse, repeat:”

“This process will try your patience. “

“Ok Kelly. I understand what you are saying.

Lather, rinse, repeat. You may have to do it a few times. I’d take aspirin in the mean time if I were you. Enteric coated. Maybe 0nly two jr. Strength.

I’m taking 2 st. Joseph’s low dose aspirin 81mg each there coated

I think that’s perfect. Until you have a proper plan, this is the most reasonable plan. 👍🏻

Good luck with it and stay safe around hard obstacles!

I had to quit playing rugby and make a few minor lifestyle tweaks, but having 2 small children and still keeping above average active (big cyclist, crossfit) brings risks.

But so does using stairs and crossing the road...

Hi Fall if you are on warfarin ,where was your INR if high a bleed if low chance of clotting - Thy ask black and blue - warm to touch pain is of course- chance of clotting would concern me . I have had huge DVT'S and had NO discoloration or swelling , clot,so i would it checked for clots if it were me. we are all different but you don't need tiny little clots floating around your body .

Best to ya Casey and I

That's what I was concerned about I'm still waiting for a referral to hematologist but I did start aspirin a low dose on my own because I kept getting little marks bruises with sharp pains that weren't results of injuries I didn't know what they were so I started the aspirin. I've never had my levels checked that I know of but I get livedo pretty bad to the point of black and blue knees. So I'm in a long brace that keeps me from moving my knee I'm guessing that might be a concern to think about to just trying to figure things out as I'm new to all this . Thank you for your input

I did the back and blue mark/ bruises with shape pains also. Just before diagnosis. ( confirmed diagnosis was a large dangerous DVT one week after second set of blood labs came back positive . It was little Blood clots in tiny superficial veins - really close to skin. Felt like a rubber band had snapped /,popped on my skin...

Could you use those Air socks that message your calves- i had them when ever i am in the hospital- not only do they feel great BUt they help with blood flow because the calf muscle acts like a pump to pump blood back up as it works . That's what i was told when i first used them on my very first surgery in 2012. I don;t know about anyone else but i loved them --I would of taken them home with me if i could of figured how to sneak them out of the hosp. !!!! :-)

Husband brought me home those copper compression socks and I must say I'm impressed my legs don't hurt as much and the sharp pains aren't as bad or as frequent.
