Reversal drug for those on Dabigatran.

IN an Australian first, the TGA has approved a reversal agent for a direct-acting oral anticoagulant.

Idarucizumab (Praxbind) is a monoclonal antibody that reverses the anticoagulant effect of dabigatran (Pradaxa) in patients who require emergency surgery or have life-threatening bleeding.

This was news today in Oz.  (I didn't try another dodgy link to frustrate the others on here)  Doesn't help the ones on other Anticoags such as Rivaroxaban or ? (can't remember the other one!!-having a hughes moment:) )  However my daughter assures me there are other things to throw at us such as Cofac if I'm involved in a drastic accident!!

It is still in the experimental stage, but the Center for Drug Repurposing at Ariel University in Israel is studying the use of gallium for uncontrolled bleeding.  What caught my attention, is that it does so without causing internal blood clots.
