Hi. Is the person you are seeing a Rheumatologist? They are often the APS experts.
Dave
Hi there, if you are seeing Hughes Syndrome/APS specialist, they should have full working knowledge regarding the condition, which will help you and indeed your GP. MaryF
Hi there,
Read as much as you can about this illness, because knowledge is power.
It is very important that you see a Specialist who knows what to look for regarding symptoms! There are perhaps only 4 % of the Medical Doctors in our world who knows well about this illness (this only a guess). As Dave says Rheumatologist and also Hematologist may know about it as it is a rheumatological illness as well as a blood-disorder. I have both of those doctors here in Stockholm.
I know after several years on this site, trying to help people find a way out of the jungle, that you have to find that Specialist and get properly treated before you can relax and feel safe and better. We have too thick blood and our blood need to be thinned.
Read "Sticky Blood Explained" by Kay Thackray. She has APS herself and describes how it is to live with this illness and gives ex of the many symptoms from different organs we have. We are all different but also very alike as to symptoms and we are in the same boat and understand. Stay on this site.
Best wishes from Kerstin in Stockholm
The Neurologists do not usually "get" what this illness is about - too thick blood that has to be thinned.

I see a hematologist for my APS but have a slew of specialists for all of my other "ailments": nephrologist, cardiologist, etc.
Is he/she an Expert of this illness called APS? That is important if the communications between the Doctors will work
