just wondering are people with aps on the disability list or do you need to go to your doctor to be assessed ty mcbeth
are we considered disabled: just... - Hughes Syndrome A...
are we considered disabled
I know it is an illness but it can make you disabled when you have TIAs and Strokes. it depends on how well you recover from the physical effects of these. I know I have other reasons to be Disabled, Hughes Syndrome being just one part of a whole, that is just how I see myself. I have severe multi-joint arthritis and central canal stenosis to name a few. My spinal cord is narrowed in two places and iI have two disc bulges at L3/4 and L4/5. The physical problems which include writing instead of printing affect me so I have limited range of movement and cannot go out without assistance. I am always in pain I know this can be due to Hughes too. Do you get massive headaches? or other pains. It depends entirely on the individual, and how they see themselves, or on the specialists who diagnose, use MRI scans etc to find out exactr cause/.effect
Sorry, I also wanted to say that the stroke doctor tells me I have brain damage but I disagree with him. Your brain can develop in other areas. I did some marking this weekend I do struggle nowadays but it keeps the brain ticking over and I feel a sense of achievement .I just cannot thank the specialist enough who look after my care. I do not get any bad feelings from any specialist.Unlike some of you out there.
I do not consider myself disabled, I do however say that my disease disables me when I have a flare, and I agree with jumpingpeggy, that all the events that floor us could lead to being disabled.. Strokes etc. Sarahx
I consider myself disabled as my condition effects my day to day living and there are things that I cannot do. Some of my disability is caused by the damage that Hughes has caused, some of my disability is from the actual condition itself like pain and fatigue. Everyone is different though with different symptoms/damage to their bodies.
hi all ty for you for your thoughts its hard for everyone bless you all x
APS is classed as a registered disability - as far as I am aware, I am sure I saw that info on the Hughes website.
thank s to all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Very interesting
I have heard that you have got a diagnose of APS.
I suggest you put your own question on our site as you will get good answers from Admins and other members.
As you have so many illlnesses it is exstremely important that that Rheumatologist you had has very good knowledge of all those illnesses and can distinguish between them to give you the correct treatment.
Hope you stay with us here.
