...is the best time to take Plaquenil? I take my 200mg pill lunchtime with food, but I am finding I have trouble sleeping at night? its not usually a problem, I have been on these pills for around 5 weeks, I only have one 200mg per day

I am on 400mg. I take them both together plus all of my other tablets at the end of day with my main meal of the day. I haven't noticed any disruption to my sleep pattern but I am a poor sleeper

I take 400mg per day after food in the morning. I've never noticed any disruption in sleep patterns. I have however recently noticed some symptom changes and linked it back to a change in the brand of hydroxychloroquine I was prescribed. I now take the zentiva brand and am back on track. Might be worth checking.

I've been on Hydroxychloriquin for around five weeks too! And I've suffered real sleep disruption for about four days now. I'm up to 400mg and take both tablets after lunch. I hadn't linked the sleep problems with the meds but might now try taking them in the morning instead 😊

Plaquenil can be taken any time of day but adviseable to take with food or milk to prevent stomach upsets. You must however take it at the same time each day.

Manufacturer's leaflet states: It may take several weeks or months to see improvement if you are taking this for lupus or arthritis.

Give it time.

Sleep disturbances are not known side effect but it can cause anxiety or depression which can manifest as insomnia so keep an eye on the symptoms and discuss with your GP
