Can you self refer to see prof.hughes?

Hi everyone.

Is it possible to self refer to see the prof? Or does your GP need to do it?

Any idea on costs or waiting times. I've already had mri's, numerous blood tests, EEG etc so would take all of this info with me.

I have high titres of antibodies but no know clotting event apart from pregnancy complications. Also have many symptoms of lupus but testing negative so far.

Thanks in advance

Hi

Yes you can self refer. Give the London Lupus Centre a call and speak to one of the ladies there, I usually speak with Kim, and she will make an appointment and discuss cost with you.

Let us know how you get on.

Best wishes

Dave

Yes you can self refer, the appointment is around £200 and the tests really add up, I take all my local and regular test for myself and children with me to not have this expense with tests. I have clearly had Lupus for decades and only just passed a test at 48! The Professor himself has a long waiting list, but there may be a cancellation slot, this is not unheard of. However of course his colleagues at the unit may have shorter lists. MaryF
