Hi lechar 1,

Hope you get your INR in range. Hope also that you have an APS doctor that understands that we are not "ordinary" warfarin consumers but need mostly more than 2.0 to get rid of all the odd symtoms we get with this disease.

Most of us on warfarin (with APS) need an INR of 2.5 - 3.5 to feel better. Some of us need 3.0 - 4-0 and sometimes even higher. Some of us have an INR that goes up and down a lot so it can be important to have regular weekly lab vein tests, expecially as you have just started warfarin.

Hope your hayfever gets over soon. My father was sick of it. The spring is early here.

Good luck from Kerstin in Stockholm

I only see nurse at doctors surgery. My INR was 2.1 on Wednesday but she said that was ok because I was in range (need to be between 2 and 3) and carry on with same dosage till next Wednesday and get tested again. Does that sound too low to you? Do I tell her that it needs to be higher that 2.5? Its so confusing

Hi again.,

I remember when I started warfarin I had a lot of symptoms (but I could read again). and it took some time and if you are going to have 2.0 - 3.0 you are in range according to your doctor. So you are on the right way it seems. The symptoms disappear after some time. For me it took 2 months for the neurological symtoms to quite disappear. Like you I had 2.1 the first weeks.

It is your APS-doctor that decides about the INR-range. I Think you can feel safe if you take labtests every week.

You can come back if needed. We are here for you. Kerstin

Hi, I want to add:. Ask the doctor to aim at around 2.5 - 3.0 in range. 2.0 is very low to stay on.for a longer period of time. You can not notice if the warfarin works otherwise. I had to be at 3.0 to notice a real change. I feel a little bit unsure because I must not tell you what to do as I am not a doctor but I can only tell you how it was for me but we are all different. I know that most people here think that 2.0 is quite too low to stay on for a longer period of time.

I understand everyone is different its just nice to read other peoples experiences. I think I just expected to feel better by now. I need to be more patient. I've just done a 24 hour heart monitor and have a heart scan soon so have alot going on. Just want to feel normal again. Thanks for replying and have a good weekend xx

I do get sinus headaches on Warfarin, and had them before. The difference now is I can't take Naproxen Sinus. I take Tylenol Sinus (generic brand) and if it's really bad, I'll add sudafed and use flonase spray (generic) which is a prescription. They usually last a day.

I've noticed my sinus headaches have been worse lately but I've been on Coumadin since 2006. Since I can't take decongestants, I rely on my neti pot and pain killers.
