I too have varicose veins. They can be sugically treated but when I approached a vascular specialist he would not touch me due to the APS tag I have.

My varicose veins do not hurt me, they make my legs ugly.

My legs are also ugly and like you they won't touch me. I asked really as I've just started to notice mine aching, I have them the full length of my legs and its uncomfortable :(

I had DVTs in 1988-89. My legs, which had once been my sexiest feature, became streamed with veins and pock marked -- even though my weight was normal. Support stockings helped at first. Exercises ( various straight leg lfts,) and swimming helped. But 30 years later the vericose veins are still there -- though they do look better then they did.

Oh well.

Good luck.

Try a plastic surgeon. They do miracles on varicose veins. Of course, it all depends on the kind of varicose vein and the totality of your medical case. But it is certainly worth the knowledge and the chance to be done with them, if they bother you that much. This is considered "elective" surgery in the States. That generally means out-of-pocket payment, which may be worth it to you. Good luck in any case.

Hi Charlie: I just realized you are only 28 years old and can better understand why you are self conscious about the veins. But what if you have it done, no matter who does it, and they reappear in 5 or 10 years? It's a question worth asking any doctor you choose to second opinion you. Even though some people got the No, APS answer does not mean YOU will. Each case is as different as the doctors that treat them.

Smiles, Canary.

Yeah I'm only 28 And my legs are just getting worse. I can't wear summery clothes like other people my age or flip flops like I use to love wearing. It's ruining my life I can't even comfortably get changed in the same room as my husband to be. I need to do something it makes me depressed. I don't mean to sound vein because I'm not I just can't mentally cope with the changes to my body due to this APS

Hi Charlie

I know what you mean about being embarrassed about your legs. I used to have long shapely legs before all this. Full of pock marks and veins now. I've never been overweight in my life either, always the other way really. Don't like wearing shorts or dresses anymore, but you know what, no ones perfect, just look around and I don't think you'll be bumping into supermodels everywhere. Go and see your doctor about this, of it upsets you that much I'm sure they'll listen. How's the wedding plans going by the way?
